Nohbody's Jumpgate ship loadout recommendations
Before anything else, I would like to thank Carlo "Gossip" Zottmann for running a site, Planet Jumpgate, that was almost the definition of "fan site", going way above and beyond any reasonable call of duty for the sake of a game he truly loves.
Indirectly, without PJG the following loadout recommendations wouldn't exist. The original loadout recomendations were done by a beta pilot by the name of Konril. Konril left early in the beta 6 stage of testing Jumpgate, as I understand it, so the information contained in his/her reports were quickly superceded by changes in the game, both in equipment rank requirements and in new equipment not available at the time of the original reports. Using Konril's loadouts as a starting basis, out of equal parts boredom and desire to help others I built on the original work to update the information for then-current ships and equipment, and have been gradually updating them to reflect the changing environment that is Jumpgate. Below are the latest versions of those loadouts, including all the ships and equipment currently available, as of v1.0054.
Below are the conventions used for these recommendations:
The credits available to individual pilots are considered irrelevant, for the purposes of these recommendations. Money in the Jumpgate universe isn't infinite, but there are many generous people who are willing to donate or loan credits to their fellow pilots, even those not in the same squad.
"Surplus energy" is measured from the PGA display, after the capacitor takes its cut due to efficiency issues, but before the guns themselves. Since the PGA assumes maximum drain from all equipment, the surplus power available may not actually match what the statistics say. Shields, for example, don't draw as much power as the PGA says they do, when fully charged. Instead, they draw the lesser baserate requirements, only drawing what the PGA says they do when recharging after being damaged. This is how some ships appear to have a negative power surplus, but can still fly with radar and shields not draining due to a lack of available power.
The masses presented in the loadout statistics don't match up with what you'd get from adding up the ship and equipment mass values in the JOSSH database, as those do not count the armor mass of the ships, for unknown reasons. One kilogram of armor provides 3K units of protection.
All ship equipment listed is solely what a player at the relevant level can legally purchase. While some gear, like the Duelist, can be manufactured in the relevant external production center, at any level, for the purposes of these reports they are treated as being unavailable to those who don't meet the rank requirement.
All ships using ammunition loadouts are given a camera, as are cargo ships or those with mining gear, whereas ships armed with weapon lasers, for the specific purpose of engaging in combat, are not. The range of the weapons of the latter group, in most cases, isn't sufficient to make cameras a significant component of accuracy, while the other loadout groupings depend on the zoom feature inherent in all cameras, albeit for different reasons.
Although due to a bug MODx mass isn't currently counted in total ship mass, for the purposes of these reports they are included in the total mass.
Please note that these are recommendations, and not absolute loadout requirements. The ultimate judge of what "should" be on a ship is your personal preference, as it's your ship, not mine. Any and all errors existing are those of the author, not NetDevil or any other associated sites. However, if there are any errors to be corrected, or you would just like to make a comment, please e-mail me. I may or may not reply, depending on the circumstances, but your comments will be read.
